The day was December 2nd, 2015. That’s the day my world and attitude changed forever. This is the day the San Bernardino terrorist attack occurred. This was different than other such attacks because this attack happened approximately 30 minutes from my home. The mosque the attacker had occasionally attended is two blocks from my home. This happened literally in my back yard and I knew it was time to get serious about becoming my family’s first responder.

I am a husband and a father of four children. I knew it was up to me to do everything I could to protect each one of them. This is when I became a licensed concealed weapons carrier. I am a professional musician by trade. This means I have many friends who are more left-leaning in their political views. They have either no experience or very little experience with firearms. After the terror attack, I had quite a few approach me. They said that they wanted me to take them shooting because I was the only “gun guy” they knew. I said, “absolutely I’d be happy to”. I took them to a private range with some of my family members who are police, SWATT, and firearms instructors. Every one of them said that they realized firearms were not nearly as scary as they had thought or had been told after a day at the range. They all said they enjoyed it because I wasn’t an intimidating ex-Navy SEAL, I was just a regular guy talking to them on their level. So, I knew people needed this and I should do everything I could to help train and educate people on firearms and protecting the ones they love. So, in 2020 I became a certified firearms instructor and started Guardian One with this mission in mind, to help regular people… TRAIN FOR THE ONE SHOT YOU NEVER WANT TO TAKE.
